Intra workout
Supplementing during training means allowing one's body to resist the increased phenomenon of fatigue.
Specifically, in the intra-workout protein and BCAAs should be used as an alternative source of energy, when glucose starts to become scarce and fatty acid oxidation increases.
As for sugars, consumption of carbohydrate products during exercise reduces the breakdown of branched amino acids, which are oxidized for energy during exercise. Carbohydrate supplementation during this part of the workout therefore delays fatigue and long-lasting strength loss once they are absorbed.
As training continues, protein is broken down causing an imbalance in nitrogen amounts, a phenomenon that can be buffered by taking branched-chain amino acid supplements during exercise. This stimulates the synthesis of new protein at the end of the session.
